The Port of Tarragona is one of the most important ports in the Mediterranean, excelling in sectors such as petrochemicals, steel, and agri-food, handling an annual traffic of over 32 million tons. Its infrastructure, geostrategic location, and traffic diversification make it one of the ports with the greatest growth potential in the region.

The port's commitment to diversification and the promotion of general cargo traffic, which adds greater value, is yielding excellent results, reflected in the continuous growth of vehicle traffic, the paper pulp sector, and the consolidation of new traffic such as project cargo and live animals.

In recent years, passenger traffic has also increased, positioning Tarragona and its port as an emerging cruise destination.

The Port of Tarragona aims to become a major logistics hub in the Mediterranean, an economic engine for Catalonia, and a unifying agent for the metropolitan region of Tarragona, with strategic projects such as the PortTarragona Terminal Guadalajara-Marchamalo, the Logistics Activities Zone, and the expansion of the Balears quay.

Additionally, the port is committed to the energy transition, adopting measures to reduce its carbon footprint and promote the use of renewable energy. The improvement of rail transport is also a priority, as it is key to enhancing the port’s connectivity and sustainability, reducing reliance on road transport.
