Last-mile delivery in urban environments takes a major leap forward with the joint project by ARCA.bot, Vaive Logistics, and the Institute of Robotics and Industrial Informatics (IRI) of UPC. This initiative integrates SmartHubs, robotic lockers, and autonomous delivery vehicles, all coordinated by an advanced layer of artificial intelligence. The system, developed with the expertise of engineers in military electronics and aerospace manufacturing, is already operating in pedestrian areas of Barcelona. The solution fully automates the delivery process, from pickup at the hubs to final handoff. Currently, 51% of deliveries from these SmartHubs are carried out through this technology, with projections to reach 100% by 2027. This innovation improves logistical efficiency, reduces traffic and environmental impact, and offers a safe, scalable alternative for urban delivery. A clear example of how robotics and AI can transform the future of sustainable logistics.
