The Port of Barcelona is the main transport and service infrastructure in Catalonia and a reference port in the Euro-Mediterranean region. Its area of influence extends across the Iberian Peninsula, southern and central Europe, and North Africa, serving as Europe's gateway to distant markets such as the Far East and Latin America.

With more than 100 regular shipping routes connecting the Catalan capital to around 200 ports across the five continents, the Port of Barcelona is the leading port in Spain for foreign trade in terms of cargo value. It specializes in general cargo and high-value goods, including electronic products and vehicles.

Its Port Logistics Community brings together more than 500 companies and institutions, generating over 40,000 direct jobs. This Logistics Community is organized and structured through the Steering Council and its working groups, aiming to provide customers with the most efficient and sustainable supply chains and high-quality services. The development and implementation of projects guide its actions to continue being an essential logistics hub in the Mediterranean and to evolve as a central node of the blue economy in Europe.

Economic sustainability, environmental sustainability, and social sustainability are the three strategic pillars of the Port of Barcelona in fulfilling its mission: to generate prosperity in the community by fostering growth through innovation, digitalization, and respect for the environment.
